Juneberry Some 20+ years ago, when my parents bought my granduncle's house, we had to clean up everything throughout all the 2.5 floors. My mom is very particular with cleaning, and my siblings and I were assigned to clean up the dining room and kitchen. Lots of super-nasty stuff in there, such as a jar of expired cooking oil that has been solidified and invaded by all kinds of nasty bugs in them, a couple of dishes with some "leftovers" (too disgusting to describe LOL), and at their chimney, we also had to clean up a bunch of rat traps with actual rats in them. The house was just so bad that we had to fumigate it before the remodeling began.
My parents grew up in the countryside, and one of the mottos they carried with them all the way here to the U.S. is to "tough everything out when needed." We had to force ourselves to "tough all the nasties out" and really get tough with the cleaning. This is why it's easier to live in an apartment haha, but we're a family of six, therefore we needed the big house to accommodate a large family.
