When one thinks of coffee & tea shops, it's (almost) automatic that one will think of Starbucks.
But, I'm pretty sure that there's a local coffee shop in your area that's not very commercial as Starbucks, but you feel that they may serve better coffee, tea, or whatever beverage they serve than Starbucks. If you do go to non-Starbucks coffee & tea shops, what are your favorites? Share them with us, and if possible, talk about your favorite beverages of any kind that only that specific coffee & tea shop makes.
The Bay Area has its own version of Starbucks called Peet's Coffee & Tea. In fact, Peet's Coffee & Tea came out first years (late 1960s) before Starbucks (early 1970s), and it's known that Peet's became an ideal American coffee shop model. The three college students studying at USF (University of San Francisco) met Alfred Peet, the founder of Peet's, and eventually, opened their own shop when they went back home in Seattle, now known as Starbucks.
There are a couple more that I like to visit and hang out: Philz Coffee, Suju's Coffee, Slap Face Coffee, and the one only a block from my house, Kaffa Coffee Roasters. There are a few that I visited but the names aren't coming to my mind. I'll list them out later.
My favorite local coffee beverage so far is the signature Mint Mojito iced coffee served at Philz Coffee. I actually learned the recipe a long time ago and sometimes I would make it at home. I wrote about it in my personal blog 2 years ago too.
